Paloform fire pits use high-strength cast concrete with a natural finish that is intended to weather and develop a patina over time. Our concrete fire pit does not require maintenance, but its ‘new’ appearance can be prolonged if it is buffed and resealed every 8-12 weeks or as necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buffing and sealing can also remove minor discoloration due to efflorescence or exposure to overly acidic or alkaline substances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 It is critical that you follow the buffing and sealing instructions precisely and carefully, as deviations from the process can cause aesthetic damage to the concrete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use of a Green ‘Scotch-Brite Pad<\/a>‘ <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

All concrete pieces have been hand-buffed with a green pad before leaving our premises, so you do not need to worry about damaging your piece with one. This said, proper technique will lead to good results:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Wipe the surface of your concrete vessel with a soft, slightly dampened cloth to begin, removing any surface residue or debris. Then, wipe the entire surface with a clean, soft cloth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Hold the green pad in position with the palm of your hand.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. The correct buffing motion is circular with medium pressure\u2014only applying pressure with your palm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. For best results, buff the entire side of a vessel, as buffing a small area may result in a color difference in the treated area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. If necessary, you can increase the amount of pressure, but only using the palm of your hand.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Seal the concrete after buffing, following the instructions on the sealer bottle. Our recommended sealers are:\n
