Contemporary Outdoor Entertaining in The Blue Mountains

Set on a three-acre lot within a forested ravine in The Blue Mountains, Ontario, the grounds surrounding this residence—designed and built by The Landmark Group—invite a sense of calm and quiet relaxation.

The promenade up the driveway sets the tone, with a tree-lined approach and stone entry gate establishing a quiet sense of arrival.

From there, the grounds unfold gradually, stepping down toward the rear of the property. A series of terraces transitions naturally from one to the next, each opening outward while maintaining a close relationship to the surrounding forest. Planting draws the ravine into the composition, allowing the native cedar canopy to read less as a backdrop and more as an extension of the garden itself.

At the lower level, the pool terrace is where the grounds resolve into a more defined composition. Anchored by a generous pool and integrated hot tub, the space is shaped by clean lines, structured planting, and manicured greenery. As day turns to evening, a warm, layered glow brings the water to life as the surrounding landscape fades into darkness.

The pool house at the water’s edge extends the terrace into a place to gather and linger, with an outdoor kitchen, bar, and shaded seating. At its center, a Paloform Fold fire table provides a quiet focal point. Low and clean-lined, it anchors the lounge and draws people in, with the poetic balance of water and forest as a backdrop.

The result is a landscape that balances clarity and ease, where defined lines and structured terraces are softened by layered planting, and a sense of openness is balanced by spaces designed for closeness.

Scaled for gathering yet composed at a human level, it remains closely tied to its setting, allowing architecture and forest to coexist in quiet continuity.
