Set against the quiet backdrop of Nottawa’s countryside, this understated yard unfolds into a refined outdoor sanctuary. Anchored by a historic log cabin and framed by generous garden space, the site called for a carefully considered design response to balance the existing elements with features of understated modern luxury.
The Landmark Group shaped this landscape as a place of retreat, guided by a simple brief: to slow the pace and invite stillness.

To address the site’s complex orientation, the team used a “collapsed” fieldstone wall to frame the space and visually divide the social area from the driveway.

The palette is subdued and earthy, combining the warmth of cedar decking with cool natural stone pavers, and creating a harmonious aesthetic flow between the historic home and the wilder garden beyond.

The garden’s seating area is highlighted by a Caldera Corten Fire Pit, with its rich materiality and sculptural presence. It serves as the focal point for gathering and conversation.

The oxidized steel fire pit meets stone, water, and greenery—an elemental composition where modern luxury is integrated respectfully into a site defined by patina and permanence.
